Quaker City Wiffle Ball Tournament

The Quaker City Youth Baseball and Softball League will host a wiffle ball tournament fund-raiser on May 9 in the village park. Entry fee is $90 and teams must call Mike Neuhart, 679-2810, in advance to register for the tournament. A cash prize will be paid to the winning team. The proceeds will benefit the youth association in the form of equipment.

Cornhole Tournament in Byesville

The Byesville Assembly of God will host a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12 noon. There is no entry fee. There will be a separate tournaemnt for children ages 12-under. Prizes will be awarded and there will be free food and drink provided. For more information, call 685-1852.

Applicants for Buckeye Trail Girls' Hoop Coach Sought

The East Guernsey Local School District is accepting applications for the position of girls' varsity basketball coach at Buckeye Trail High School. Interested individuals should submit a resume with coaching experience included and references to Superintendent Richard A. Hall, East Guernsey Local School District, PO Box 128, Old Washington, OH 43768. The deadline to submit information is Friday, May 1.

Cambridge Men's Softball League

Teams are being sought for this year's Cambridge Men's Softball League. Games are played on Sundays at Cambridge City Park. Any team interested in signing up should contact Lloyd McGilton at 439-3123.

Indoor T-Ball/Machine Pitch Baseball

The Fieldhouse will be hosting the indoor Coca-Cola spring training t-ball and coach pitch machine baseball leagues this spring. The second session begins Saturday, May 2 and the registration deadline is Saturday, April 26. For information call 454-2224.

It's A Kick Soccer Academy

The Fieldhouse will host be hosting the It's A Kick Soccer Academy this spring with an emphasis on technical instruction to give the individual a stronger base of complete soccer skills. Alainna Amicone, a former college player and NSCAA, USSF licensed coach will be instructing at the academy. For information call the Fieldhouse at 454-2224.

5K Run, Walk or Roll for the Rule

The Guernsey County Board of MRDD is hosting a 5K Run, Walk or Roll for the Rule on Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m. Cost is $10 for runners, $5 for walkers and $5 for rollers. Handicap accessible laps will be available for 1-4 laps using the Cambridge High School track. Runners and walkers will used the cross country course. Walkers may use the track or the course. Medals will be awarded for each division's first-place finishers (male and female). Medals will be awarded for first-place finishers in the walkers categories. Trophies will be awarded to the overall top-three finishers both male and female. Division consist of ages 14-and-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. All participants will receive T-shirts. Registration is from 7:30-9 a.m., on the day of the race. Forms are available at sneuhart@gcmrdd.org.

Meadowbrook Volleyball Boosters Meeting

The Meadowbrook Volleyball Boosters will meet on Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m., in the high school cafeteria. All parents of girls' in grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend.

27th Annual Crappie Fishing Tournament

Entry forms for the 27th Annual Crappie Fishing Tournament at Salt Fork State Park, Morning Glory Ramp are now available. The event is sponsored by Guernsey County Sportsmen for Conservation. Starting position is based on arrival of entry forms. Entry fee is $40 in advance or $50 the day of the event. To receive a form or for information, contact Ken Scherf at 685-6761.

Next Level Athlete Combine

Zanesville High School football and coach Chad Grandstaff will host the Next Level Athlete Combine on Sunday, May 3 at the Zanesville High football stadium. Registration is from 9-10 a.m. and the cost is $50. The combine begins promptly at 10 a.m. For information contact Chad Grandstaff at 819-3231.

Buckeye Trail Pigskin Classic

Buckeye Trail High will be hosting their Pigskin Classic golf scramble on Saturday, May 9 at Robins' Ridge Golf Course. Scramble teams consist of groups of four with action beginning at 8 a.m. To sign up call 685-3852.

Hanson Memorial Scramble at Belmont Hills CC

The eighth annual Rodney D. Hanson Memorial Golf Scramble to benefit area college students will take place on May 11 at the Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville. All proceeds from the scramble directly benefit the Rodney D. Hanson Memorial Scholarship designated for students attending Ohio University's Eastern Campus. During the last seven years, participants have raised more than $70,000 for area students. Lunch is at 11:15 a.m. with a shotgun start planned for 12:15 p.m. A dinner at the Country Club will follow the tournament. The entry fee is $125 per golfer or $500 per team which includes golf and all special events (skins, putting contest, mulligan and throw), lunch, dinner, prizes and refreshments on the course. The top four teams will win pro shop credits, including $600 for low gross, $600 for low net, $500 for runner-up low net, and $400 for third place low net. Those who want to attend the dinner only may buy tickets for $25 each. Dinner will be served immediately following the scramble. To obtain an entry form, please call E.J. Schodzinski at 699-2503.

Kiristi Singleton Memorial Golf Scramble

The Fourth annual Kiristi Singleton Memorial Scholarship three-man golf scramble will take place at Robins' Ridge Golf Course on Saturday, May 16 with an 8 a.m. start. The cost is $55 per person. Payout will go to the top five places. Food and beverages will be provided, along with T-shirts for every participant. Door and hole prizes will also be awarded. All proceeds will go to the Kiristi Singleton scholarship fund at Meadowbrook High School. To date, $5,500 has been awarded to graduating girls. Habitat for Humanity Golf Invitational

Guernsey County Habitat for Humanity will be having its 3rd annual golf invitational Friday, June 19 at the Cambridge Country Club. This is a 4 person scramble that will start at 12:30 p.m. A buffet dinner and awards presentation will conclude the event. The registration fee is $75 per golfer. Union Local Summer Volleyball League

There will be a summer volleyball league at Union Local High School starting Tuesday, June 2 and running until June 30, with games starting at 5 p.m. The cost is $100 per team and those interested should call UL volleyball coach Christa Truchan at 338-0840 or Mark Cisar at 782-1171 before May 1.

Wittenberg Basketball Camps

Wittenberg University will conduct basketball skill camps for boys entering grades 4-12 in the coming fall. Comprehensive skills camps will be held on June 14-17 and July 19-22. Reds Legends Youth Clinic

The annual Cincinnati Reds Legends Youth Baseball Clinic will be held at VFW Field in Marietta from June 22-24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is a non-profit event. We are donating all 2009 profits to the Larry Jones Feed the Children Program. Ken Griffey Sr. is the main headliner this year, with Don Gullett, George Foster, Herm Winningham, Leo Cardenas and Jim Maloney also slated to attend. Wooster Basketball Camp for Girls

The Wooster Basketball Camp for Girls is offering two sessions of overnight camp for girls entering grades 4-12. Dates for session one are June 28-July 1 while dates for session two are July 12-15. The camp is under the instruction of College of Wooster coach Lisa Campanell Komara. Registration is now being accepted.
