BELLAIRE --Meadowbrook High's girls finished second and the boys were third in the OVAC Class 3-A Track Çhampionships at Bellaire's Nelson Field.

St. Clairsville won the girls' Class 3-A meet with 140 points, with Meadowbrook a distant second with 94. Barnesville was third with 71.5 followed by Harrison Central (69), Bellaire (66), Oak Glen (48), Martins Ferry (37), Union Local (20) and Magnolia (12).

Mara Cain topped the Lady Colts with a "double" in the hurdles, winning the 100 hurdles (15.54) and 300 hurdles (46.40). Kelly Delancey scored a victory in the pole vault (9-0) and the MHS 4x400 relay team prevailed (4:17.0).

Other place-winners for the Lady Colts included Katherine Jirles, second in the discus (91-3) and sixth in the shot put (29-10); Mekenzi Gray, second in the 200 (28.21); Darien Singleton, second in the 300 hurdles (46.84); Lacey Kirkman, fourth in the long jump (15-5.5); and Mercedes Taylor, sixth in the 400 (1:09.41).

In relays, MHS was second in the 4x200 (1:46.79); fifth in the 4x100 (53.47); sixth in the shuttle hurdles (1:17.50); and sixth in the 4x00 (11:38.57).

Barnesville got another OVAC sweep from standout distance ace Stephanie Morgan as the senior captured the 800 (2:18.67), 1600 (4:49.52) and 3200 (11:12.44).

Other individuals scoring for the Lady Shamrocks included Amanda Wahl, second in the high jump (5-2) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (49.47); Mariah Miller, third in the pole vault (8-6) and fifth in the 200 (28.21); and Karly Jones, fifth in the 3200 (12:30.17) and sixth in the 1600 (6:00.49).

In relays, BHS was second in the 4x400 (4:19.53); fourth in the 4x800 (10:49.67); and sixth in the 4x200 (1:59.28).

Other event winners in the girls' 3-A meet included Alexis Campbell of St. Clairsville in the 100 (12.73) and 400 (59.8); Ashley Gordon of St. Clairsville in the 200 (27.21); Ericka Skinner of Harrison Central in the high jump (5-4); Jalynn Keyser of Bellaire in the long jump (16-1.25); Megan Green of Bellaire in the shot put (38-6) and discus (121-1); St. C. in the 4x100 (52.30 and 4x200 (1:45.97); Harrison Central in the 4x800 (9:55.35); and Oak Glen in the shuttle hurdles (1:09.1).

Oak Glen captured the boys' 3-A title with 123 points, followed by Union Local (84.5), Meadowbrook (82), Bellaire (63), St. Clairsville (61), Harrison Central (47), Martins Ferry (46.5), Magnolia (28) and Barnesville (20).

Meadowbrook had a trio of winners, including Taylor Hunt in the 200 (23.05), Jason German in the shot put (50-10.5) and Shawn Light in the pole vault (14-9).

Hunt also took third in the 100 (11:51) and third in the 400 (51.12) while other individual place-winners were Ty Egnot, second in the discus (132-1) and third in the shot put (47-6.75); Nathan Milton, second in the pole vault (13-6); and Jeremy Quinn, fourth in the high jump (5-8).

The Bobcats also took third in the 4x200 relay (1:33.81).

Barnesville scoring included Darius Jenkins, second in the shot put (47-8.75); Brennan Delaney, third in the 1600 (4:38.35) and fourth in the 800 (2:04.71); Wesley Lewis, sixth in the 1600 (4:45.76) and Kody Crooks, sixth in the 3200 (11:11.78).

Other event winners in 3-A included Tyler Barnes of Bellaire in the 100 (11.25); Brandon Nicholes of Union Local in the 400 (50.4); Derrick Sproul of Harrison Central in the 800 (2:01.15) and 1600 (4:29.46); Alex Thornburg of St. Clairsville in the 3200 (10:07.93); josh Szpyrka of Oak Glen in the 110 hurdles (15.94); Anthony Phillips of Martins Ferry in the 300 hurdles (40.68); Matt Ritchie of Oak Glen in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (20-7.5); Nicco Mills of Oak Glen in the discus (136-6); Union Local in the 4x400 (3:32.89); Oak Glen in the 4x100 (44.07), 4x200 (1:30.74) and shuttle hurdles (1:01.44).
