Rachel Andrea Yakubik and Thomas Michael Velto were united in marriage on Aug. 8, 2009, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Weirton, W.Va. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She is the daughter of Andy and Carol Yakubik of Cambridge. He is the son of Dave and Leah Velto of Weirton, W.Va. The Rev. Fr. Dean Borgmire officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride's cousins, Josh Bodner, soloist, and Alissa Bodner, pianist, provided special music for the ceremony. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mary Adkins-Cartee, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Christi Drubel, Susan Baughman, Suzi Anderson, friends of the bride, and Emily Velto, sister of the groom. Serving the groom as best man was Shelby Robertson. Groomsmen were Charles Drubel, Adam Coburn, Trevor Hayes, Nick Bialaszewski, friends of the groom. Ushers were Travis Donia and Brandon Carter, friends of the couple. Sophia and Chloe Velto, cousins of the groom, served as flower girls. A reception followed for 130 guests at Williams Country Club in Weirton. The new Mrs. Velto is a graduate of Meadowbrook High School and a graduate of Bethany College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. She received a master's degree in English from Muskingum College. She is adjunct professor at Pittsburgh Culinary Institute, where she teaches Spanish. She is pursuing a master's degree in English literature at Duquesne University. Her husband is a graduate of Weir High School and a graduate of Bethany College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He is an employee of Olive Garden in Robinson, Pa., and is pursuing a law degree at Duquesne University. After Christmas, the couple took a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas. They make their home in Crafton, Pa. Comments
