COSHOCTON --Coach Keith Arnold and the Meadowbrook High Colts must not have been invited to the "pow-wow".

At least it seemed that way as East Central Ohio League foe Coshocton ran away with a 77-55 victory in "The Wigwam".

Shooting a fiery 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field, the Redskins (15-4, 10-1 ECOL) cruised to victory while Meadowbrook (12-7, 6-6 ECOL) struggled to find the bottom of the net, managing an 18-of-60 (30 percent) effort from the field.

In a competitive first quarter, Meadowbrook senior Ethan Shriver led the Colts to an early 10-8 lead, scoring the team's first six points.

A three-point play from Coshocton's Dom McCluskey and a layup from Christian Taylor lifted the hosts to a 13-11 advantage at the end of the first round.

The Redskins began the second frame with an 18-7 run, featuring a three "triples" from David Brown to take a 31-18 lead with 3:13 remaining in the half.

While Brown rained down "trifectas" (3-of-3 in the second quarter), Christian Taylor battered the interior of the Meadowbrook defense, scoring eight in the frame.

The Redskins' offensive explosion left the Colts facing a 40-26 deficit heading into intermission.

If that spurt was not enough to deter Meadowbrook, Coshocton opened the second half with another streak, this time outscoring the Colts 12-2 in the first four minutes, capitalized by a McCluskey three-point play at the 4:24 juncture as the Redskins had nearly doubled the visitors' score, 52-28.

Not quite done yet, the Colts responded with seven consecutive points to end the quarter as Shriver poured in five markers to try and close the gap.

Brown was determined to repel the Meadowbrook comeback, which became evident when he hit a pair of "treys" to give the hosts a 58-36 edge with 7:06 to play in the contest.

Two Christian Taylor free throws and a Brown layup later, the Colts began to circulate in the reserves, and despite scoring the last nine points of the game, the damage was done as Coshocton picked up its 10th league win.

Arnold credited the hosts in their effort, while maintaining his concerns about his teams defense and rebounding efforts.

"Coshocton did a great job tonight," the Meadowbrook mentor allowed. "They jumped on us early and we didn't do the things we needed to do to earn a victory.

"We would like to end the regular season right for our seniors," Arnold continued. "We have talked about the tournament and we know we have a tough opponent (Beaver Local) and a tough bracket."

A primary concern for the Colts at this point in the season is recovering the confidence and consistency with which they began the season.

"We have had a few good games, but -- plain and simple -- we have got to get stops at the defensive end and get more rebounds."

Shriver paced the Colts with 15 points and eight boards, while Neff chipped in nine points. Devon Cork, Stephen Minyo and Logan Pepper each added six markers, and Pepper dished out four assists.

The Coshocton attack was led by Brown, who connected on 5-of-9 (55 percent) of his three-point attempts en route to a 22-point performance. Christian Taylor added 18 points and 10 boards; Brandon Taylor also recorded a double-double, tallying 11 points and 11 caroms; and McCluskey tallied 11 points and four assists.

Meadowbrook converted 16-of-22 (72 percent) of their free-throw attempts, while the hosts made 18-of -23 (78 percent) of their foul shots.

Coshocton held a 31-27 rebounding edge, and forced 10 Colt miscues while committing nine.
