LORE CITY -- The annual budget and appropriations were approved at the recent village council meeting. Sharon Carpenter, clerk, reported the village's budget is $175,454.60. After appropriations there is roughly $9,700 in the general fund. "We did very well last year," said Carpenter. "There was a $43,000 carryover." A small breakdown of the funds is as follows: * $18,000 in the street fund. * $5,777.41 in the park fund. * $87,813.65 in the fire department's fund. "The park fund is all donations," said Carpenter. "The fire department will be spending some money this year. They have plans to purchase equipment and to do remodeling on the firehouse." This is also an audit year. "We have qualified for a 'procedures only' audit," Carpenter told council. "I don't know what we will be saving, but we will be saving some money." The village qualified for the reduced audit because Carpenter has always had perfect audits. Carpenter also mentioned that one of the village's loans will be paid off this year. The council thanked Sharon for her hard work and for doing such a good job as the clerk. Comments
