LORE CITY -- Tom Warner was sworn in to the village council at its recent meeting. Warner filled a final vacant seat. He has served as councilman since 1990. He was also appointed to serve as the park commissioner.

Gary Noll was appointed council president as well as street commissioner. He has been serving as street commissioner but is replacing council member Colleen Stahovec as council president.

Council members Tonya Bates and Warner volunteered to serve on the county tax review board.

Mayor Richard Carpenter, along with council, thanked Joe McClements, village worker, for keeping streets clear of snow and ice.

"He is doing a heck of a job," said Carpenter.

High Avenue was discussed.

"In the past we approved to not plow High Avenue so the kids in the village had a place to sled ride. I have received several complaints about the road not being cleared," explained Warner. "I would like to see us plow High Avenue when the other roads are treated. People use that road and I think it is a liability to the village if we don't plow it."

The council members present agreed with Warner. They voted to keep High Avenue treated just as the other roads are treated.

Sharon Carpenter, village clerk, explained NIMS to the new members of council. NIMS is the National Incident Management System. All government employes must complete online training. Carpenter stressed to the council members that if they don't complete the training the village is ineligble for government grants.

The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 10.
