Larry Lester Lanning

BYESVILLE -- Larry Lester Lanning, 67, of Byesville, went to be with the Lord on this day Feb. 26, 2010.

He was born Sept. 11, 1943, in New Straitsville, son of the late Leslie Lester and Maggie Sue (Lambert) Lanning.

Larry was an insurance salesman for the Monumental Insurance Co. for 36 years. He was an Air Force veteran, a 1961 graduate of New Lexington High School and attended Quaker City Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, car racing, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta; and a great-grandson, Colton Menninger.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Robinson) Lanning, whom he married Jan. 6, 1978; four daughters, Tammi (Kevin) King of Pleasant City, Jennifer (Mark) McCort of Quaker City, Leslie Lanning of Senecaville and Christy Springer (Jerry Sills) of Cambridge; a son, Tim Lanning (Sarah Stanbery) of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren, Cara, Erikka, Paige, Kyle, Korey, Melissa, Arizona, Brittney, Morgan, Madison and his faithful companion, Tigger; two sisters, Scharlott (Ron) Householder of Logan and Dee (Dan) Miller of Lancaster; two brothers, Terry (Jodi) Volz of Mansfield and Gary (Linda) Dibert of Springfield.

Funeral services were March 2, 2010, at the Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville. The Rev. Don Glass officiated.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
