BYESVILLE --Several local athletes stood out amongst a field of 11 area schools in the Colt EarlyBird Invitational at Meadowbrook. The Meadowbrook girls took first place in the team standings with a score of 117, followed by New Philadelphia, 107; Warren Local, 85; Cambridge, 75.5; John Glenn, 72.5; Buckeye Trail, 69; Belpre, 53; Zanesville, 49; Coshocton, 35; Caldwell, 18; and Shenandoah, 18. Meadowbrook was led by first-place finishes from Darien Singleton in the 100-meter dash (13.2); Kaity Dettra in the 3200 (13:13.29); Mara Cain in the 300 hurdles (48.06); the 4x200 relay team of Cain, Alex Eckelson, Cheyann Fehrman and Lane Browning (1:53.9); and Kelly Delancey in the pole vault (8-6). Runners-up included Alyssa Poland in the 400 (1:06.38); Singleton in the 300 hurdles (48.06); the 4x400 meter relay team of Cain, Eckelson, Browning and Poland (4:31.46); and Crystal Dorland in the hammer throw (89-8). Third-place finishers for the Lady Colts were Eckelson in the 400 (1:06.4) and Alex Davis in the hammer throw (84-9). Cambridge registered no individual champions, but second-place finishers include Katie Davis in the high jump (5-0); and Katy Lewis in the shot put (34-10.75). Finishing third for the Lady 'Cats Jessi Zaleski in the 200 (:28.67); the 4x100 meter relay team of Ashley Johnson, Kate Fausett, Jacqueline Stevens and Zaleski (54.67); the 4x800 meter relay team of Rachel Jamiel, Alyssa Giesey, Tiffany Ingram and Abbie Orr (11:05.49); and Kate Fausett in the long jump (15-1.25). Buckeye Trail had a bevy of first-place finishers including Amy Fisher in the 800 (2:30.33); Alissa Bodner in the 100 hurdles (17.54); the 4x100 meter relay team of Bodner, Kaitlyn Wolfe, Fisher and Arika Urbauer (53.28); and the 4x400 meter relay team of Nicole Montgomery, Urbauer, Fisher and Wolfe (4:23.12). The lone second-place finisher for the Lady Warriors was the 4x800 meter relay team of Samantha Schaeffer, Cheyanne Bamfield, Montgomery and Fisher (10:39.23). Placing third for Buckeye Trail was Wolfe in the 100 (13.51); Montgomery in the 1600 (5:55.66); and Urbauer in the 300 hurdles (:50.47). The boys' meet was won by John Glenn with 137 total points, followed by New Philadelphia, 113; Coshocton, 93.5; Warren, 72.5; Cambridge, 69; Belpre, 52; Meadowbrook, 50; Zanesville, 41; Caldwell, 26; Buckeye Trail, 25; and Shenandoah, 22. The Muskies' individual champions were Drew McCulley in the 800 (2:11.44); the 4x400 team of Austin Ross, B.J. Parrish, Tyler Bosson and Craig Luburgh (3:46.76); the 4x800 relay team of Brandon Dolick, Zach Geiger, Jonah Carson and McCulley (8:35.52); and Cy Hummel in the high jump (6-0). Taking runner-up honors for John Glenn were Austin Ross in the 400 (53.43); McCulley in the 1600 (4:54.62); Zach Geiger in the 3200 (10:16.45); Craig Luburgh in the 300 hurdles (:45.84); the 4x200 relay team of Bosson, Parrish, Ross, and Luburgh (1:37.48); and Jake Ratliffe in the hammer throw (90-8). Third-place finishers for the Muskies were Adam Steer in the 110 hurdles (:16.98) and Heath Prater in the 300 hurdles (:46.24). Cambridge was led by Shawn Hannon's winning throw in the discus (139-6). Second-place finishers for the Bobcats included Dashaun Lewis in the 100 (11.67); Tim Fox in the pole vault (11-6); and Hannon in the shot put (48-5). Third-place winners for Cambridge were the 4x100 relay team of MItchell Eagleson, Tyler Berger, Greg Brown and Lewis (:46.75); and the 4x200 relay team of Eagleson, Brown, Berger and Lewis (1:37.61). Meadowbrook's lone champion was Levi Snyder in the hammer throw (116-11). Jeremy Quinn took second in the high jump (5-10); and Jake Black finished third in the 400 (54.28). Comments
