The Myron Fishel Scholarship applications are now available for 2010. They can be picked up at the guidance counselor's office at any of the local area high schools (Cambridge, Meadowbrook, Buckeye Trail and John Glenn high schools.)

Applications can also be picked up at US Bank, 819 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge.

The Myron Fishel Scholarship is available to any local area students who will be attending an Ohio accredited institution of higher learning. Questions about the scholarship? Call Jenny Taylor at 432-1302 or Jeff East at 432-1334. Deadline for applications to be received is April 30, 2010.

The fund's trustees are Daniel G. Padden, Guernsey County prosecutor; Robert S. Moorehead, Common Pleas/Probate Division judge; and Jeff East, US Bank's regional president.

The trust was established in November 1974 by Dr. Waite Phillip Fishel, former professor of chemistry at Vanderbilt University, in memory of his only son, Myron, who was killed in World War II.

Grants received from the Myron Fishel Scholarship trust are not taxable to the recipient and the recipient has no obligation to repay the scholarship awarded to him/her.
